Welcome to ‘Bola Talks Tea’, I’m Bola, the tea drinker and taster behind the blog. I plan on using this blog to share, document and explore my enthusiasm for tea, good conversation and telling of stories.
Three things which I truly appreciate, and speaking of good conversation, it’s only fair I share the story of how this got started.
It was actually following a series of lengthy conversations with a friend of mine. My enthusiasm for tea however, became apparent to her in our visit (being my first time) to the Fortnum and Masons store in the city.
I’ll be honest, it was my first time laying eyes on such an array of tea leaves. And i think it’s fair for me to say that I felt like a child in a candy store, or a ‘Toys R Us’, where the world (of tea) was my oyster and i didnt know where to begin.
With several samples carefully arranged in transparent and dainty vials, I proceeded, with very little caution and much intrigue looking at the hues of the teas displayed. From the Countess Grey, Moroccan Mint and Darjeeling,
Having been so spoilt for choice, I opted for none of the above, and left glad knowing that I stumbled on such a selection which surpassed the usual (and props to them) PG tips or your Clippers green tea.
To cut the story short, she one day suggested how about I put all this enthusiasm in a space where others with a similar interest could connect, and so ‘Bola Talks Tea’ was born.
I will admit, my journey of tea tasting has only just expanded (beyond green, black, chamomile and peppermint) and I’m excited to see where this goes. I hope you join me for the ride as I explore the endless possibili-TEA-s (it has to be done, wouldn’t be complete without a pun)!
